The research mainly focus on Fiscal Economy of National Defense in Response to Major National Security Challenges takes national defense budget, national defense economy and national security.  

The research team of this field has undertaken multiple research projects sponsored by National Social Science Fund, National Natural Science Fund, Humanities and Social Science Fund of the Ministry of Education, etc, and has published a series of high-quality papers in major academic journals in China and abroad such as Defence and Peace Economics and Chinese Military Science. This team carries out collaborative innovation research centering around major international and domestic strategic topics such as economy, trade, security and defense; and it strives to innovate research mechanism, build international, cross-disciplinary research teams, stress talent training and database, and produce a series of influential and landmark research findings in the areas related to CUFE and the Center for China Fiscal Development, such as the theory and practice of defense budget and fiscal management, economic development, trend of national security and conflicts, allocation of national defense resources, funding management and operation of national defense industry and purchasing, strategic games between China and US, China and Japan relations, South-China Sea disputes, war preparation and economic mobilization.
